I wanted to sort out my Russian kit in 2016. Maybe i can buy so it is kind of close to Japanese. Help would be appreciated.
@Chris: i would be interested to buy one of the Japanese caps as suggested for ~£8.

some of the russian kit should be ok and some not lol

what we want is still a japanese look not a russian one , the look a like guide gives some good tips though and tops etc from hiki not badly priced and could ship with your russian kit loool ;)

also if any folks do nam vc some of the kit passes over quite well and vice versa , my last nam game used a lot of my japanese webbing etc :)

The hats are actually pretty good quality. Ordered one without flaps for the other half. Definitely buying the leather webbing on pay day though.
Seems easy to bodge well, pair of chino trousers, long puttees, need to get a tan shirt.
I was going to go to a haberdashers and look at how easy it'd be to make some rank tabs if anyone's interested in a few cheap ones.-- attachment is not available --

All sounds great, I'm tempted with Japanese, sounds interesting, though I will be buying webbing from hiki as I don't buy leather items from India. I won't book on yet just incase I can't afford it after the Napoleonic uniform is completed :good:

I've just received one of the cheap IJA caps off ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WWII-WW2-Japa ... Sw6BtVShS- The quality is not great, and its not wool, more of an HBT type material, so I wouldn't bother with this if you're putting a serious Japanese impression together, but as a make do look a like, for the price its fine, quick delivery too, only took 10 days.

German

Russian

British

Japanese

just had a quick price up on hiki and looking about £200 for T98 tunic, trousers, helmet and their breadbag/water bottle/glove set and putties inc shipping plus £35 for the webbing on ebay.....i'm tempted if there's going to be more pacific games in the pipework? :good:

Zib also have a small selection of jap stuff http://www.zib-militaria.de/epages/6143 ... aria_Japan

I think it's one if these chicken and egg situations. If we all had the kit I'm sure there'd be lots of Pacific games. It seems we have a lot of people interested in the IJA (more than I initially thought actually) so I'd be happy to put the investment in a new uniform if everyone is.

Ralph

well we wanted to run a second later in the year but will be colder :( and depending on the person who has a game that month as well

but as it stands as we still sorting the last details out - the sat will have very limited numbers but the sunday will have as many as both can match up within reason, unless there is a large enough demand that i can maybe get the extra part of npf for the both days, but i dont think we be at that stage this year with numbers

i was looking at about 3 x 5/6 per side on the sat with increased numbers on the sunday

but have to take account that the 34th will fill at least 1 of the squads on both side's

i dont think we will lack numbers on either side, but time will tell i guess lol

on the kit side i had my light set of webbing for £31 turn up today via dhl think it took about 5-6 days its not to bad will compare against some hiki stuff later in the week when i got this weekends game out of the way :) , did find my cheap hat out and its not to bad but unsure where i got it from lol have 2 different ones on the way to compare :)

How's this for some cheap Japanese trousers?

Those trousers certainly look the part.

After the move this weekend I'm looking to order a full jap loadout from hiki. If anyone else was looking to make an order from hiki too maybe we could order together and split the postage?

Ralph

Sure thing mate. Got a few months to get it all ready anyway.

Anyone else? Maybe if we make a big enough order they'd do a discount.

I'd send it back or demand the 'correct' one be sent, as the one in the photo is definatly 'wool' looking, and nothing like a twill material.
